Atlantic Rising: Update
The capsule which contained letters from thousands of school children in Europe and West Africa was picked out of the water by fishermen off Fortaleza, Brazil. They then left it on the beach in front of a smart hotel.
The buoy was equipped with a tracker and when the Atlantic Rising team saw where it was they phoned the Golden Tulip hotel and asked a slightly bemused receptionist to go and have a look for it. He managed to find it and the letters are still safe inside. Read the full story here. School children in Brazil will now be writing back to the students who had letters in the bottle.
The buoy was part of an environmental education project and has been used to by teachers to explain the importance of ocean currents in maintaining the world's climate.
