National Citizenship CPD programme
ACT, in collaboration with The University of Plymouth and local authorities, are responsible for delivering a National Citizenship CPD programme on behalf of the DCSF over the next two years.
The key elements of this programme are:
- 30 hours teaching (comprising 10 x 3 hour units) which can be undertaken face to face, blended or completed as a distance-learning programme.
- It is delivered locally through nine Regional Hubs.
- It aims to develop teacher's professional knowledge of citizenship, and builds upon the teacher's own experiences in their own schools.
- Course members submit a portfolio of evidence to achieve the Certificate of DCSF Citizenship Standards.
- Course members can also undertake additional work to extend their portfolio and gain 30 credits at QAA Level 7.
- The course is free. It attracts a £300 bursary for course members to use to help them support their portfolio submission.
- Taught courses commence during the early part of the Spring Term and the taught element is completed during the Summer Term. Portfolios are due for submission in September.
In order to take this course you must be a qualified teacher. The course is aimed at teachers from all key stages.
