Chartered Geographer
Regional CPD opportunities
Fantastically organised and very helpful. Transport provided made it a really easy journey and all the effort gone to was much appreciated! Keep up the great work!
Geography Teacher who attended our Chesterfield AS/A2 level specification CPD day
As part of the Chartered Geographer (Teacher) accreditation we are setting up free regional CPD and mentoring networks, by which teachers who have not yet reached their 6 required years of teaching can collect evidence towards CGeog (Teacher). This will include CPD opportunities in local areas (run by colleagues, current CGeogs and external organisations) and mentoring from experienced CGeogs in the area as to what CPD and experience is needed to become a CGeog (Teacher).
Want to run your own network?
We are looking for enthusiastic geography teachers to set up and run free CPD networks in their local area. The RGS-IBG will provide full support and funding, ensuring minimal administration for you. If you are interested in setting something up or would like the RGS-IBG to support a network you are already running please email Claire at c.wheeler@rgs.org or call 020 7591 3053.

Opportunities may involve a group of teachers working on an externally funded project (for example an RGS-IBG Innovative Teaching Grant project or producing resources for another Action Plan for Geography project). Each network will work together to recommend and run CPD, provide advice on CPD and good practice and help each other to build up portfolios and extended CVs. The network may also choose to get involved in external or community projects, strengthening links between local schools and with HE. Overview document available to download.
