Preparing for Disasters

He will talk about the earthquake in Haiti, which left more than 200,000 people dead and hundreds and thousands in need of urgent assistance. Disasters are becoming all too frequent in the news; recently Chile has had over two million residents affected by an earthquake.
In his role, Robert Roots has supported programmes in Nepal, Bangladesh, Syria, Uganda and the Caribbean. He has been involved in emergencies such as the Lebanese conflict of 2006; Iranian earthquake of 1997 and the Gujarat earthquake of 2001.
