Geography Teaching Today

The South Ribble (Lancashire) CPD network was led by Ben Ward, a CGeog (Teacher) from Penwortham Girls High School in Preston.

The aims of the network are to:

• raise the profile of Geography within the South Ribble institutions and the local community
• promote Geography based CPD
• facilitate the sharing of good practice between Geography departments
• provide opportunities for discussing and developing ideas, initiatives, and projects
• promote CGeog (Teacher) status and the Secondary Geography Quality Mark programme
• include an element of mentoring towards the CGeog (Teacher) accreditation for the teachers who are almost ready to apply
• create a pool of skills and expertise
• inspire other regions to create their own CPD networks (with RGS-IBG support).
