Geography Teaching Today

The Wigan network has been sucessfully led for some time by Andrea Wood, an Advanced Skills Teacher from Deanery CE High School.

We hope to hold more events in this area in 2010-11

This FREE half-day of fieldwork CPD focused on using GIS packages, including Google Earth, Google Maps and GE Graph for pre-fieldwork activities and to present fieldwork data. Practical exercises included using Google Earth/Maps to prepare students for local field visits and plotting fieldwork data in Google Earth Graph. This workshop also supported the use of GIS for controlled assessment. The event was led by Tom Deacon, Senior Tutor at the Field Studies Centre at Rhyd-y-Creuau, Snowdonia.
