The first meeting of the North West fieldwork network was held in March 2009. Twenty-five teachers from the region attended the initial event, which took the form of a day of free local fieldwork CPD. The event was held on the Cronton campus of Riverside College Halton (hyperlink to www.riversidecollege.ac.uk) in Widnes, Cheshire . A range of speakers provided information and resources for fieldwork opportunities in the local area. They included representatives from Liverpool and Liverpool Hope Universities, and the Sefton Coast and Countryside Service. Fieldwork topics covered included fieldwork in the school grounds and local area, coastal fieldwork opportunities in Cheshire, a salt marsh ecology fieldtrip and inner city redevelopment and sustainable development in Liverpool.
