Introduction

Led By: Geographical Association

The Pilot GCSE has had a successful start, with over 70 schools already involved and many others wish to join. Here we hope that you will be able to share in the:

  • Goals of the pilot GCSE and its vision for 14-16 geography
  • Innovative approaches to GCSE geography teaching and learning
  • Support for developing GCSE geography in your own school

Young Peoples’ Geographies

Students’ lives are lived ‘geographically’ (as are all our lives). This provides a valuable starting point to understanding social, economic and environmental opportunities and constraints. It is also a sound basis for encouraging futures thinking on all scales including the global. Over the next two years students will be working alongside professional geographers, teachers and teacher educators to share their experiences. Together they will plan the curriculum that will underpin their classroom learning experiences.
