Talk Geography Teaching Today
What do you think about the Geography Teaching Today website? Any ideas for improvements or information that should be added?

The website looks very useful and I hope it will help us all to develop our subject and to guide us through the challenges and opportunities that the coming months and years offer. Good luck!

Re - positive comments from Tom, Bridgend. Thanks Tom for the good wishes - we hope too that this website will become a most valued resource for all practitioners of geography and others interested in and involved with the subject. The joint website team of the GA and RGS have done wonders to get the site up and running so quickly but the best is yet to come when the onlne PDUs appear and we can start to really engage with one another. As the site becomes populated with learning experiences, queries, concerns, successes and ideas we will hopefully grow into a powerful and cohesive learning community. So please spread the word and keep coming back!

I wish the site well, and will add links from my web sites today. Thanks for including such a nice review of Digital Geography!
Given that following the Pilot GCSE is not an option for many schools, I wonder if it would be possible to widen the remit of this section to include curriculum development across KS4 - or is that already the intention?
Secondly, it might be fun to see if we could develop some curriculum materials collaboratively. For example, there was a recent discussion on SLN - prompted by Tom, about an idea for the geography of surfing. Perhaps we could take a few of these ideas and devise a system for developing, collating and hosting teaching materials. I'm thinking about how to nuture the sense of community ownership that you're obviously trying to encourage?

Its great to see positive comments so soon. I certainly enjoy knowing there are other positive and enthusiastic geographers out there. In relation to Noel's suggestion regarding the sharing or materials and curriculum development at Key Stage 4, yes it's a hope that the site will eventually do this - certainly it will engage with many practitioners.

Some really useful information on the site - I've only taught one module of geography during my year on GTP and so when I finally get a class of my own I will be looking for support! I am particularly interested in how to make geography interactive without a field trip. We have artefacts in history but what happens with geography? When teaching coasts I used things from the beach to spark the children's imagination and focus on our topic but that wasn't possible all the way through. I have a very practical Y5 class at the moment -- how can I keep them interested? I am sure that the site will be an inspiration for student and experienced teachers alike. Good luck!

Really good resources which should excite pupils' interest. I am looking forward to trying some of these out on my year 9 pupils. Would it be possible to release these resources in powerpoint format rather than web based?
