Pilot GCSE
How do you think the pilot GCSE might help curriculum making in your school?

I am currently undertaking an MA in Education Studies and am writing a paper questioning whether or not government guidelines for the teaching of ks3 and ks4 geography are in conflict. Any comments anyone has on this would be much appreciated. You name and position within the school or world of education would also be helpful.

After studying AS/A Level Geography for two years, and carrying this on to degree level with the possibility of doing a B Ed after this, I have discovered that it is a fantastic subject. With the introduction of ICT and interactive technologies into the classroom, I feel as if there are few structured resources both online and in software form to make the most of ICT in the classroom, not only for students, but for teachers too. After all, Geography is such a visual and diagrammatic subject. What I am proposing is to develop an easy to use and comprehensive piece of software suitable for the interactive white board and student ICT learning that brings together all types of multimedia, to make a really interactive and structured resource, with interactive diagrams, sound/video clips and quizzes, that will aid and structure lessons more and really make use of the technology on offer, which after all, should be used to enhance learning. Thoes in agreement are more than welcome to leave their comments, and with enough support and feedback, I will be able to create a tailored resource for Geography teachers all over the country. I have a wide understanding of creating multimedia software through ICT A Level so that won't be a problem. There may even be a possibility that I can accomodate individual needs for the software and custom make it. The overall outcome is to make students fore involved and interested in the subject, and to see what Geography is really about, which unfortunately has been lacking with current bland teaching methods.
