We're looknig into developing GIS at St. Mary's and I've spent a while searching for the best packages/ GPS units to buy. Has anyone got any recommendations or advice on the best way to get started?
We use Mario and Google Earth, but I think it might be worth buying a GPS and digital camera to get started, so that we can unput GPS data onto digital maps. Any thoughts? Has anyone else experinece of developing GIS in their school?

Has anyone seen the documentary 'Meet the Natives?' It's fascinating. An indigenous group from a tiny Island, Tanna, in Oceania, believes that Prince Philip is the son of God! Members of indigenous group have come to England to find Prince Philip, and to study our culture. There's a little more to it than that.
I found some clips on Utube from the More Channel 4 documentary (showing 8pm each Sunday evening) to play as a connect/starter to promote discussion. This followed nicely on from studying biomes, rainforests, then indigenous peoples. Loads of the pupils have been watching the documentary and can't stop talking about it!

Got this link from a friend.
It might be useful if you ever mention Time Zones when you do Lat/Long.

Have you visited any of my recommended websites? What do you think? Are they new to you? Any interesting ideas on how these sites could be used in the classroom?
